Calling all music die hards! In case you missed the news, Guinness recently unveiled their latest platform in support of local musicians: An exclusive online radio station dedicated solely to music made by local artists! That’s right, Amplify FM will stream tracks and albums of all our beloved homegrown artists on tablets, phones and computers at

By tuning in, you can now have bragging rights of being the first to discover new and upcoming artists and music before anyone else. I mean, who doesn’t love being able to tell their friends, “I’ve been listening to that for like, 2 weeks before it got famous, pshhh,” right? What’s more, the station plays the best of Malaysian music 24/7 without commercial breaks! You must be wondering if Christmas came early. I’m not sure, maybe it did and we all missed the memo!

Amplify FM officially aired at a launch event at Black Box, Publika, with plenty of Malaysia’s favourite black brew, Guinness, going around to entertain the crowd, along with high-energy performances by An Honest Mistake and RYÖT JONES.

On the progression of Guinness’ music platform, Maud Meijboom-van Wel, Marketing Director of Heineken Malaysia Berhad, explains, “When we first launched Guinness Amplify in 2014, we gave talented local bands a platform to get their music out there and be heard. In 2015, we took this to the next level with Amplify Curates, supporting local artists to launch their album and paying it forward to lesser-known acts. This year, with Amplify FM, we’re going to give Malaysian artists the airtime they deserve and to provide an alternative playlist for music fans.”

And, probably more exciting than catching a CP1000+ Pikachu in your room, the Amplify Live Tour is announced to be returning in September with weekly admission-free shows in Ipoh, Penang, Johor and the Klang Valley, leading up to a two-day celebration on 30th September and 1st October at Publika. Dubbed the Amplify Academy, the celebration will include workshops, seminars, performances from local acts, and a recording studio that will be giving 12 bands a chance to walk away with a professionally-produced recording!

So now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got eargasmic music to tune in to while I head out to hunt for Pikachus. Stay safe guys, and happy hunting + listening! #teamValor
