Shameless confession: I like drinking. Now, before you stare at me with your judgey little eyes, let me clarify that I am not an alcoholic or an addict. I am what most would call an occasional drinker. I drink with my friends every now and then and at events or celebratory dinners. When ROJAK received the invitation to attend the 50th celebration of brewing GUINNESS® in Malaysia, my judgemental colleagues were like, “Amanda, this is so you. It’s your area of expertise.” I replied with an “Excuse me?” and then proceeded to stare at them with my judgey little eyes, or more like, send them a judgey-face emoji.
Well, who’s laughing now because the event was amazeballs! What’s not to like when there are sick beats, beautiful people and free flow of GUINNESS® beer all night long (!!!)? Held on the 10th of September at the Intermark Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, the event saw GUINNESS® unveiling three limited edition designs for its Foreign Extra Stout bottles (325ml and 640ml) and cans (320ml).
Influenced by Malaysia’s melting pot of culture and rich history, each design actually represents a particular phase in our journey dating all the way back to our ancestors’ core, to the thrive of modernization and right up to the future. Not to forget, the designs are actually created by Malaysians for us, Malaysians. The team is made up of musician Edwin Raj, artist Donald Abraham, film director James Lee, graphic artist Julian Kam and photographer Vincent Paul Yong. Needless to say, it was a work of art with a concept we can all identify with.
The three limited edition designs will be available from now till November*. In the meantime, do feast your eyes on the pictures we took on that amazeballs night. I won’t be surprise if you crave for a GUINNESS® by the end of this article.
